Kalabagh dam will not harm anyone: Ch Shujaat Hussain

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League-Q President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has emphatically said that Kalabagh dam will not harm anyone, this was the only way to avoid load-shedding and famine and provision of cheap electricity and adequate water and solution of all problems, there was no use of constituting a commission for probing electoral rigging, workers should prepare for the local bodies’ election, we salute the parents of Pakistani army jawans and civilians martyred by Indian firing, govt should not remain silent over it.
Addressing a very big and quite enthusiastic public meeting in Bahawalpur today, he said that “we do not believe in any ism but in Jinnah-ism”, minorities living in Pakistan were true Pakistanis and PML would always stand with them.
Congratulating people of Bahawalpur over the historical public meeting, Ch Shujat Hussain said that they had broken all previous records of public meetings on this ground and he would always remember their love and affection. He said that this was the first public meeting in connection with reorganizing PML and mass contact campaign. such public meetings would also be organized and held in other cities, for meeting internal and external challenges confronting Pakistan it was essential that PML workers should create unity in their ranks and organize the party at ward level, workers were our real asset, leaders should do every work with their consultation because workers had stood with the party in difficult time. He said that saying of the Quaid-i-Azam should be kept in mind that Pakistan would be strong if Pakistan Muslim League was strong.
Contradicting propaganda against training of terrorism in madaris, he said that we had made plan for imparting formal education in madaris in view of the utility of the religious education institutions but it was not implemented somehow, he was proud to have always taken decisions according to own conscious, our party had never done any such work which could be source of shame for us. Ch Shujat Hussain asked the party leaders and workers to start mass contact campaign, local bodies system alone could take the power to the people in real meanings and Insha-Allah, PML would emerge victorious.
Expressing gratitude to all his allies and particularly workers sitting in the sit-in day and night, he said that Insha-Allah we would move together. He said in particular our moving together with PTI even without any alliance was enough to prove that personal differences did not matter to us in view of the national interests. He said that eyes of the rulers who had formed govt through fake mandate, three months have lapsed after 18 innocent people were martyred and more than 90 injured in Model Town Lahore on the order of Shahbaz Sharif but no action had so far been taken against those responsible.

While addressing the jalsa, former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that we had given prosperity in every sector including farmers and workers and they were giving hunger, diseases and dacoities, challenged Shahbaz Sharif again for debate for own 5 years and his 10 years performance comparison.

He said further that our govt had provided free education, text books, medicines throughout Punjab including south Punjab, undertook and accomplished revolutionary works for people from all walks of life including students, teachers, doctors and lawyers, they had given failed schemes, during out tenure electricity was Rs 5 per units which was now costing Rs 18 per unit, they were going to China not for securing electricity but for earning daily wages, with the construction of Kalabagh Dam electricity will be available round the clock at Rs 2.50 per unit.

He said this while addressing a very big and historical public meeting at Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur today in which the people participated in a record number. After the sit-in this was the first public meeting of the PML which was full show of political strength of the party in which the participants enthusiasm was quite remarkable, people had come in groups from different areas even on dancing camels, party flags were being waved in large number all around and the workers were chanting slogans of Go Nawaz Go. MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema said in his address said that the people who had voted for N-League out of attraction of false promises were ashamed now, this historical meeting was the ample proof of PML services and popularity.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that south Punjab was the heart of Punjab, during our tenure we had given it preference in every matter in order to end its sense of deprivation but injustice was bearing done continuously with the people of south Punjab for the last six years. Implementation of our projects of public welfare was stopped but days were numbered of the govt established through falsehood, fraud and rigging, the day was not far off when the decisions of the Punjab would be taken by such people who have equal love for every city, village and town of Punjab, we had left Punjab surplus but today it was under heavy debt and in ruins, today it was pretty difficult whether poverty and dearness had increased more in Punjab and crime, they who thrive on falsehood till yesterday were swearing to end load shedding in six months and now were given dates of five years later, present ruling family of Pakistan was worst enemy of farmer and worker, six bags of fertilizers were required for one acre of cotton, each bag costing more than Rs 4 thousand whereas the official price was only Rs 2500, what revenge they were taking from South Punjab ?, our cotton pickers worker girls and women were being wages in the ratio of Rs 250 to Rs 400 per maund but the ruler of the province was unmindful of all this while throwing mike and showing his finger.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that more than 80 per cent people were forced to drink contaminated water, where there was no employment for the youth, medical treatment for the sick, education for children and justice for the oppressed there motorways and bridges were not the solution of the problems, they had not bothered even to get the roads constructed during our govt repaired in Bahawalpur and elsewhere in the province, our youth were unemployed but his son was visiting India, China and Turkey with them.

Continuing further Ch Parvez Elahi said “we were 1122 and they are 420, we were ambassadors of construction and they were mafia of destruction”, we regard the entire Punjab as our family whereas for them there family alone was entire Pakistan, they were enemy of the people and we were friends of the people. He said this sea of human beings in Bahawalpur was ample proof of who had served them with good intention and who had exploited their sentiments through fraud, this was the reason wherever they go today slogans of “Go Nawaz Go” and Go Shahbaz Go” chased them and people still remembered our tenure.

Ch Parvez Elahi said further that load-shedding and costly electricity had made the life of the people miserable, another problem which was becoming grave with every passing day was lakhs of acres of land of four provinces which was giving look of desert due to non-availability of water, people were dying of famine in the country which had the best irrigation system of the world, besides floods the only solution of both the problems was Kalabagh dam which can not only generate up to 3600 megawatt of power but also provide additional four million acres of feet (MAF), 2. 2 MAF to Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah, 1.5 MAF to Balochistan and two MAF of water for irrigation and people could get electricity at Rs 2. 50 per unit round the clock, likewise Sindh and Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah would benefit from it more than Punjab. He said in the furtherance of national interest we were ready to fold our hands before other province in order to change the fate of this country through this dam, such project should not be allowed to be victim of difference for sake of difference with which future of Pakistan and our coming generations was linked, on this the audience raised their hands to endorse him.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that province of Bahawalpur would be created at appropriate time, this was the voice of the heart of the people of Bahawalpur and this should be give serious consideration. He said today it has been proved that PML was a living and thriving party and today’s public meeting was befitting response to the hostile propaganda.

He went on to say that our vision and focus was the common and poor man, our revolutionary works included free education, treatment and medicines, 1122 service, subsidy in electricity bills for farmers, ensuring water till tail, increase in free employment opportunities, effective measures for controlling crime as well as various measures for the welfare of the farmers and workers, we had provided free education up to matric, Shahbaz Sharif should have taken it further to B. A. level, they had even snatched facilities which we had provided.

MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema said that that whatever Ch Parvez Elahi had done for south Punjab in particular for Bahawalpur would \always be remembered and people still remember our tenure, this grand public meeting of today showed determination of the people of Bahawalpur that they again wanted to see Pakistan Muslim League in power in Punjab again.

The public meeting was also addressed by Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza and Nasir Sheerazi.
