Govt is utilizing all available resources for coping with energy crisis :Shuja Khanzada

Minister EnvironmentLahore: Provincial Minister for Home & Environment Col. (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada has said that government is utilizing all available resources for coping with energy crisis and projects have been started with the cooperation of several countries for generation of power from solar, coal and other sources. He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif signed agreements for generation of 10400 megawatts electricity during the recent visit to China. He said that private sector will also have to come forward for bringing the country out of darkness. He said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is providing laptops as well as scholarships to poor but talented students to gain modern knowledge.

He was addressing a seminar on the first international conference on bio energy at University of South Asia. Vice Chancellor University of South Asia Dr. Shafqat Ali Baig, Bio Energy Expert from other countries, teachers and a large number of students were present.

Col. Shuja Khanzada said that Punjab government is setting up a solar park in Bahawalapur while several projects have also been started for the generation of power from coal and other sources. He said that investors of China, Turkey, Germany and other countries are making investment in energy sector in Pakistan. He said that Punjab government has started a number of programmes for providing modern education to the youth. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif gave laptops and solar lamps to lakhs of boy and girl students during his last tenure. He said that laptops are also being given during the current financial year to one lakh boy and girl students. He said that students of matric have also been included in this programme for the first time.

The Minister said that young scholars should pay due attention to research for resolving energy crisis and help the government in finding new sources of generation of power. He said that educational institutions in public and private sectors should arrange conferences and workshops for resolving energy crisis and other big issues being faced by the country.
