Baela Raza Jamil said CLFs /TLFs are a social movement to change the education system, practically demonstrating what works to capture the hearts and minds of our children, youth, teachers and parents. It is time that our education systems start to take away the CLF strands and integrate them in their annual calendar and classroom practices – some school systems are already doing this; we hope many more will with each festival and publications under the CLF banner. CLF has already gone beyond borders to South Asia and now even to Europe in the near future to experience, replicate and adapt it!. CLF is indeed a learning, feeling and healing festival, blessed by generous and passionate celebrities as Ambassadors. This festival marks the 3rd anniversary; the first was held here on November 26-27th, 2011.
“Teachers’ Literature Festival will provide an opportunity to teachers to voice their views and interact with other co-professionals and learn in the process and we hope that Children’s Literature Festival becomes a sustainable national movement towards critical thinking, creativity and learning beyond textbooks” said Nargis Sultana
Adeel Hashmi said “I am extremely honoured to be associated with CLF as its ambassador since its inception. Such events which are not only entertaining but are focused more towards education are like a breath of fresh air in a country where unfortunately education has never been the priority of any government.”
“Children must be given an opportunity to laugh, enjoy and get away from the stress of their classrooms and schools and CLF provides exactly such an opportunity – it is extremely important for the schools to not only attend the CLF but to also implement CLF related activities in their schools so that the culture of reading and writing is promoted throughout Pakistan” said Narmeen Hamid
The Children’s Literature Festival was founded in collaboration with like-minded stakeholders including publishers, government, CSOs and corporate partners to explore large public spaces for learning. CLF is an Equalizer and enables children from all school systems to explore the world of expression, reading and imagination beyond textbooks. CLF is open to all children from all segments and school systems as well as their teachers and parents for an experience to remember and emulate when they go back to their schools and homes. CLF has reached the level of popularity through support of eminent authors, poets, artists, actors, musicians, trainers etc. who have given their time free of cost in the spirit of ‘giving back to society’. To date over 100 such celebrities/institutions of all ages have joined hands with CLF..
