Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that revolutionary programme has been evolved for the welfare and provision of job opportunities to the youth. He said that an effective strategy has been adopted for the creation of lakhs of new job opportunities every year in the province. He said that self employment scheme has been started for unemployed youth under which vehicles will be provided to them on soft terms. He said that 50 thousand vehicles will be given to the youth under “Apna Rozgar Scheme” and a highly transparent system has been devised for this purpose.
He was talking to assembly members of various districts who met him here today. The Chief Minister said that Pakistan is a fortunate country as its 60 percent population comprised youth. He said that like other welfare programmes, additional quota of thousands of vehicles has been allocated for South Punjab under “Apna Rozgar Scheme”. He said that the process of provision of interest free loans to the youth is also continuing enabling them to set up their own business and thousands of youth have benefited from this scheme so far.
Shahbaz Sharif said that measures have also been taken for the promotion of education in the province and educational opportunities are being provided to the talented students of the poorest families through Daanish schools and educational scholarships. He said that quality education is being provided free of cost to the children of backward areas. The Chief Minister further said that an important element of the educational programmes of the government is that brilliant students of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and other provinces have also been included in these schemes which is promoting national unity. He said that promotion of vocational education is of vital importance for the rapid development of the country and the government is paying special attention to this sector.
Shahbaz Sharif said that scope of skills development programme started in six districts of south Punjab with the cooperation of British Department of International Development (DFID) is being extended to all districts of the province. He said that the masses have right over national resources but those elements which believe in politics of sit ins and protests do not want to see the people progress and are hatching conspiracy to hamper the process of national development. The Chief Minister said that these elements were also rejected by the people in general elections and have also paid no attention to their protest calls and negative activities. He said that a sit in has ended while the other will meet its logical end in near future. He said that those who are involved in politics of protests and sit-ins should learn lesson from the failure of the sit-ins. He said that 18 crore people of the country want progress and prosperity and will not allow anyone to play with the destiny of the nation.
