Punjab government announces to construct 3 more children hospital in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur

Health Department meeting on  ADPrLahore: Punjab government has decided to construct three new children hospitals at Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur Which would be cost near about Rs. 2850 million.

This was revealed in a meeting of Annual Development Program (ADP) of Health Department, at Civil Secretariat. Secretary Health Punjab, Jawad Rafique Malik, Director General Health, Dr. Zahid Pervez, Additional Secretary Health Technical Dr. Salman Shahid, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti and other senior officers attended the meeting. The meeting gave approval to 65 unapproved schemes. Secretary Health directed that DCO of concerned districts and divisional commissioners should be contacted to acquire the land for the project where the land is required. He also said that consultants also immediately be hired for the projects and feasibility report be prepared on urgent basis. Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti informed that the construction work on Children Hospital Faisalabad is speedily carrying out and the hospital would be completed soon.

The meeting decided to speed up the work on project of rehabilitation and repair of nursing hostel , work on Pakistan Kidney and Liver Transplant center in Lahore would also start soon. For this purpose, a trust would be established and a summary has been sent to the Chief Minister Punjab for the approval of names of the trustees.

The meeting also decided to constitute a technical committee to prepare classifications for the procurement of mobile health units for the under developed districts of Punjab and this committee would submit its report very soon. The meeting also decided that blood centers would be established in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Sargodha with a cost of Rs.100 million. Secretary Health Jawad Rafique Malik directed that Chief Planning Officer and Director Blood Transfusion Service should visit Indus Blood Transfusion Centre Karachi and submit a feasibility report to establish blood centers in Punjab on the modal of Indus Blood Transfusion Centre, Karachi.
