Lahore: Punjab Minister for Education and Youth Affairs, Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that there is a need for promoting mutual respect, tolerance and sharing of happiness in the society.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of 6th Lahore International Children Film Festival, here today. Certificates and awards were distributed among the winners of national immature film making competition of documentary and short duration movie films produced by the students of 24 Pakistani schools.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that young filmmakers are ruling the film industry of Pakistan today. He said it is a matter of satisfaction that more than 6000 entries were received in short filmmaking, documentary films, theater and art & craft segment in the Punjab Youth Festival last year and about 48 lakh youth took part in the event. He said it is an honour for Pakistan that it was declared the world’s biggest performing event by Guinness World Records.
The Minister said that filmmaking is considered the most effective tool of expression of creative ability. He said that Punjab government will provide all out resources to the youth in this sector. Prominent intellectual Asghar Naeem Syed, TV artist Adeel Hashmi, Usman Pirzada and Director Little Art Organization Shoaib Iqbal also spoke on the occasion.
Short film “Youth of Pakistan” produced by the students of Lahore College of Arts and Science (LACAS) Barki Campus won the best film award, “Guria” produced by Lahore Grammar School Johar Town Campus secured second position while the short film “Aakhri Bazi” produced by the students of Beacon House National University Lahore got third position. Out of 1160 children films of 70 countries, 167 films will be screened at Faizgarh Model Town and Cineplex DHA during next 6 days.
