Lahore: The 3rd batch of rescuers from Khyber Pakhtunkhaw was passed out after a six-month intensive training program at the Emergency Services Academy, Lahore on Friday. The ceremony involved the firefighting; rescue, emergency medical care, rescue from height and other emergency management demonstrations by rescuers including two female cadets of Khyber Pakhtunkhaw.
The Governor Punjab Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar was the chief guest of the ceremony which was also attended by DG Rescue 1122 KPK Dr. Asad Ali Khan and other dignitaries from different Government & Non-Government Organizations.
During his welcome address, DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer congratulated Rescuers and the Government of KPK on this initiative, which shall ensure provision of basic right to timely emergency care to the victims of emergencies without any discrimination. He said that Governor Punjab will be pleased to see that how an idea of emergency service had become a reality not only in all Districts of Punjab but also in other provinces of Pakistan. He appreciated the support of Mr. Sarwar and Expats living in Scotland without which establishment of modern fire service would not have been possible in Pakistan. However, he requested the Governor Punjab as Chairman of Safe Communities Pakistan to provide support to the Punjab Emergency Service in promotion of fire safety as without implementation of fire safety codes we are creating potential disasters for future.
While addressing the passing out ceremony, the Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar said that he feels proud to see that rescuers from KPK have also completed rigorous professional training from Emergency Services Academy. He appreciated professional standards of Punjab Emergency Service and hoped that Rescuers from KPK shall also achieve same standards through professional services. He also acknowledged services of Dr. Rizwan Naseer, Director General Punjab Emergency Service in achieving public trust and standards of service delivery and urged other government departments to provide services on same lines as Rescue 1122 is helping citizens just at one call and without any discrimination. He also praised the new initiative of prevention of emergencies and assured his full support in its accomplishment particularly for fire safety and road safety so that precious human lives could be saved. Muhammad Sarwar extended full support of Government of the Punjab for providing technical assistance to all provincial governments for replication of this life-saving Service in their respective regions.
DG Rescue 1122 KPK Dr. Asad Ali Khan thanked the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif, Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar and the people of Punjab for this kind gesture of brother-hood for providing technical assistance to replicate international standard emergency services in Khyber Pakhtunkhaw. He also acknowledged the services of Dr. Rizwan Naseer as founder of Pakistan’s first trained emergency medical, rescue and fire Service and also appreciated his efforts for establishment of Rescue1122 in KPK.
As many as 844 rescuers of KPK have been passed out from Emergency Services Academy in three batches 473 in 1st batch in June, 2010; 314 during 2nd batch in June, 2012 and 57 have been passed out during this 3rd batch.
