Lahore: All necessary security measures had been finalized for peaceful procession of Yom-e-Ashoor and Majalis in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
This was stated by Punjab Minister for Interior Col (R) Khanzada Shujah while presiding cabinet sub-committee meeting to review law & order and security measures for 10th Muharram Procession and Majalis in Rawalpindi. The meeting was attended by Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, IG Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhaira, Commissioner Rawalpindi Mr. Zahid Saeed, RPO, Umar Akhtar Hayyat Lalika, DCO, Rawalpindi Sajad Zafar Daal, CPO Humayun Bashir Tarar, Malik Ibrar Ahmed MNA, local party ticket holders of PML (N) Sardar Naseem, Malik Shakeel Awan, Dr. Jamal Nasir, Raja Muhammad Hanif, Haji Pervaiz Khan, Zia Ullah Shah, Rahat Masood Qadoosi, Mirza Mansoor Baig, Malik Ghulam Raza, Raja Ateeq Sarwar, Raja Zafar Iqbal and other officers of administration, police and law enforcement agencies.
Col ® Khanzada discussed all the aspects relating to foolproof security arrangements during Ashora-e-Muharam and appreciated the joint efforts of administration, police and all other allied departments to maintain law and order situation. He also said that keeping view the suicide attack in Lahore, it is imperative to remain alert and conscious against the nefarious designs of anti-state elements who wanted to disrupt the peace and tranquility by creating religious prejudices and law and order situation.
Provincial Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar who had been supervising the activities to maintain law and order and sectarian harmony in Rawalpindi Division appreciated the spirit of the offices of administration, police and other organizations who had been serving day and night to protect the lives and properties and similarly, the leaders and workers of Pakistan Muslim League (N) had also been fully associated for the cause by using influence to tackle any untoward situation at grass route level during Ashora-e-Muharram. He said Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on video link meeting also appreciated the active involvement of PML (N) leaders and workers, Religious Leaders belonging to all sects and representatives of business community for contributing to make peace efforts successful.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said the administration of Rawalpindi had made extra-ordinary efforts to avert any un-pleasant situation during Ashura-e-Muharam and ultra modern IT equipment were being utilize to check the negative activities of miscreants.
The IG Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhaira also expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements finalized by the administration and police of Rawalpindi to tackle any situation and said that strict compliance of instructions and guidelines should be ensured by keeping officials alert and attentive. He said there should be no compromise on implementation of Muharram Security plan in letter and spirit.
The Commissioner Rawalpindi informed that 300 CC Cameras had been installed at all vital points on Muharram procession route while a master control room had been established at RDA office Rawalpindi to keep every movement in Rawalpindi City under watch and strict monitoring during Muharram procession and Majalis. He said the law and order situation in other Districts of Rawalpindi Division had been remained under control during normal and traditional Muharam processions.
The RPO Rawalpindi Umar Akhtar Hayyat Lalika also briefed about the working of different agencies to keep a vigil on terrorists. The CPO Humayun Bashir Tarar also briefed about the micro details of security plans.
Later, the Provincial Minister Interior along with Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Ibrar Malik MNA, and other officials visited Master Control Room and city areas. He also visited route of Central Procession of Muharram and Markazi Imam Bargah at Imam Bara Road. The administrators of Imam Bara expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements.
