Benefits of decrease in the petroleum prices would be ensured: CM Punjab

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that benefits of decrease in the prices of petroleum products should reach the common man and concerned institutions should play their due role for this purpose. He said that it will be a grave injustice if the ordinary citizens did not benefit from reduction in prices. He directed that concerned departments should perform their duties in this regard with efficiency and commitment.

He was presiding over a high level meeting of Price Control Committee which reviewed the measures taken for lowering the prices of essential items and transport fares in the wake of reduction in prices of petroleum products. Provincial secretaries concerned gave a detailed briefing in this regard.

The Chief Minister directed that all necessary measures should be adopted for facilitating and providing relief to the common man. He said that masses cannot be left at the mercy of profiteers. He directed that a formula should be devised for decreasing transport fares in the wake of reduction in the prices of petroleum products. He said that necessary measures should also be taken for bringing down prices of essential items, fruits, vegetables and transport fares in proportion to the decrease in fuel prices. He directed that a realistic formula should immediately be evolved for this purpose with the consultation of experts and its implementation as well as of the action plan should be ensured. He said that implementation of the action plan should be monitored and an effective system be devised for this purpose.

The Chief Minister directed that sale of petroleum products at the fixed price should be ensured at petrol pumps and there should not be any complaint of non-availability of petrol or diesel at any petrol pump. Provincial Ministers Ch. Muhammad Shafiq, Bilal Yasin, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Dr. Farrukh Javed, Advisor Kh. Ahmad Hasaan, Special Assistant Arshad Jutt, Members Provincial Assembly, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Provincial Secretaries and concerned officers were present.
