Lahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-din has said that government has set up a business center in every district where home based skilled women can sell their products and earn profit.
She said this while addressing Women Workers Convention arranged by Homenet at Punjab Institute of Language and Culture Gaddafi Stadium, today. Director Homenet Ume-e-Laila, Agha Haider, Javed Pasha and other addressed the convention.
Provincial Minister said that home-based women workers are not only earning livelihood for their families through various skills but also playing important role in economic development of the country. She stressed the need for bringing change in collective approach for separate identity in the society, honourable job and remuneration for these women. Hameeda Waheed-ud-din said that for the first time, Punjab government is making legislation for highlighting the silent role of home-based women workers in the economic development of the country. She said that welfare programmes for women will soon be started in consultation with all stakeholders, NGOs and labour organizations.
