Lahore: Provincial Minister for Cooperative, Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar has said that Punjab government is giving top priority to maintaining a peaceful environment in the province especially during Ashura-e-Muharram. He said that no negligence on the part of administration will be tolerated in this regard.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting regarding Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that during Muharram-ul-Haram, there will be a ban on display of weapons and strict action will be taken on recovery of illegal weapons. He said that elimination of weapon culture is top priority of Punjab government. The Minister said that a watchful eye should be kept on the activities of defunct organizations besides the routes and timings of Majalis and processions should be implemented completely. He said that security arrangements should be improved through video recording of the programmes, CCTV cameras and other latest equipments.
Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar said that hotels, inns and rented houses should be checked on daily basis and their owners should be bound to present the details of new entrants and the persons residing on rent. He said that the routes of Majalis and processions should be sealed and complete search of vehicles and passengers be ensured. He said there is complete religious harmony and cooperation among different sects and it is need of the hour that Ulema and Mashaik should give a lesson of unity in order to avoid any incident of terrorism and sabotage.
