Lahore: Renowned poet, artist and academician Shahnawaz Zaidi’s new book of poetry “Tamasha” and his translation of “Meaning of Art” into Urdu language titled “Art Kiya Hay” have been launched in the main hall of PU College of Art and Design.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Principal College of Art and Design Prof Dr Shahida Manzoor, renowned literary personalities including Amjad Islam Amjad, Ejaz ul Hasan, Dr Moeen Nizami, Shoaib Ahmed, Jamshed Chishtee, Israr Chistee, senior faculty members and a large number of students and art lovers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that nature had gifted Mr Zaidi with all the creative abilities of expression and his personality was a combination of a poet and an artist who could express feelings well through poetry and the canvas.
Renowned poet Amjad Islam Amjad while detailing the contents of his book “Tamasha” said that he had paid tribute to various renowned personalities in his book and there was a huge diversity of topics as well. He said that after publication of his book “Tamasha”, he could be counted among the representative poets of the contemporary world. Ejaz ul Hasan said that it was very difficult to translate a book into another language understanding true spirit of meanings and Mr Zaidi had done it very well with simplicity of the words.
Dr Shahida Manzoor while lauding the creations of Mr Zaidi thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for supporting creative activities in the college. On the occasion, Mr Jamshed Chishtee and Israr Chishtee sang two poems of Mr Zaidi and received a huge applause from the audience.
