Dengue is rising in Rawalpindi,under control in Lahore

Health Advisor Khawaja Salman RafiqueLahore: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the concerned departments and institutions to continue their activities for controlling dengue in an efficient manner as most cases of dengue were reported in the last week of October and in the month of November last year.

He was presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue at Civil Secretariat, here today. Special Secretary Health Salman Mufti, Secretary Cooperative Babar Hayat Tarar, Additional Director General Health (Vector Born Diseases) Dr. Islam Zafar, Member CMIT Nayyar Mehmood, Prof. Dr. Wasim Akram, DG PITB, EDOs Health Lahore and Sheikhupura, officers of Special Branch, Meteorological Department, Incharge Towns, WASA, PHA and officers of other departments were present.

A detailed briefing was given to the meeting regarding steps being taken for controlling dengue. Dr. Islam Zafar told that Rawal Town, Chaklala and Cantt. areas of Rawalpindi have been worst affected by dengue and patients are being continuously reported. He said that there are 97 dengue patients in hospitals of Lahore and Rawalpindi, out of which, two are admitted in Mayo Hospital, three in Government. Shahdara Hospital while remaining patients are under treatment in Rawalpindi hospitals.

EDOs Health Lahore and Sheikhupura informed about indoor and outdoor dengue surveillance, fogging and IRS. Kh. Salman Rafiq said that there is a need to pay more attention for controlling dengue situation in Rawalpindi. He directed that all departments should continue indoor and outdoor surveillance under micro planning so that the breeding of dengue could be checked and spread of dengue virus could be limited.
