Lahore: The 25th national and 13th international Chemistry Conference has called upon the authorities to introduce industrial reforms in chemistry related fields to boost economy and resolve environmental issues of Pakistan.
The inauguration session of the conference held at the Pervaiz Hasan Environmental Law auditorium was chaired by Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran in which Director Institute of Chemistry Prof Dr Makshoof Athar, President Chemical Society of Pakistan Dr Deen Muhammad, Organizing Secretary Munawar Ali Munawar, international delegates from Canada, South Africa and other countries, faculty members and a large of students were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that such conference were the best opportunity for young researchers to get benefit from the expertise of renowned personalities in the field. He said that it was also a platform for researchers to establish contacts worldwide and interact with international scholars.
Dr Makshoof Ather said that chemistry was an important field but it had not been given due importance. He said that it was a multi-disciplinary field in which scientists were facing various challenges. He said that our scientists wanted to address environmental issues and they should be encouraged. He said that if the government supported the industry, new products would be introduced and jobs would be provided.
He thanked PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran and Higher Education Commission for their all-out support to organize this conference. Dr Deen Muhammad sought the role of youngsters to come forward and play their role for the development of the subject and country. The conference would conclude on Wednesday.
