Mayo hospital’s East Medical Ward renovated by Bilqees Sarwar Foundation

Khawaja Salman RafiqueLahore: Mayo hospital’s East Medical Ward has been completely renovated by Bilqees Sarwar Foundation by spending millions of rupees on its renovation, provision of new beds, installation of centrally air-conditioning system and auto-supply system of Oxygen at every bedside, for the establishment of a 10-bed ICU.

The said philanthropist’s family has provided all the bio-medical equipment for the ward. In this connection, a ceremony was held at the auditorium of Mayo hospital today which was attended among others by Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Vice Chancellor KEMU Prof. Faisal Masood and veteran medical teachers including Prof. Khawaja Sadiq Hussain (who did graduation from KEMU in 1942), Prof. Akhtar Khan, Prof. Mehmood Ali Malik, Prof. Zafarullah Khan, Prof Asad Aslam Khan, Prof. Irshad Hussain Qureshi, Faculty members, Principals of different medical colleges, doctors, students of KEMU and family members of Bilqees Sarwar Foundation while pattern-in-chief Mrs. Bilaqees Sarwar.

On this occasion, retired medical teachers recalled their memories of their student-life and history of King Edward Medical College and expressed their views on medical education.

Prof. Faisal Masood said that knowledge without wisdom is not sufficient. He said that old teachers always taught wisdom in addition to imparting knowledge to their students. Prof. Khawaja Sadiq Hussain observed that doctors should interact with patients keeping in view the education and status of the patients as it would be easy to treat the patient. He said that doctors must listen to the patients with patience.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of newly renovated East Medical Ward of Mayo Hospital, Khawaja Salman lauded the act of philanthropy and humanitarian services of Bilqees Sarwar Foundation. He said that the philanthropist family is spending millions of rupees generously. Earlier, this foundation had renovated the Neurology Department of Mayo hospital and also provided thousands mosquito nets for flood affected people. The representative of Bilqees Sarwar Foundation, Farhan Sarwar said that their mother is running the foundation and they are always ready to spend in the way of Almighty Allah. He disclosed that Bilqees Sarwar Foundation would start many other projects in Mayo Hospital and a dialysis unit is also being set up initially with as many as ten dialysis machines.
