Lahore: Delegates from seventeen universities of the United Kingdom have visited the Government College University, Lahore and enjoyed a cultural evening blended with traditional Punjabi, Balochi and Sindhi dance performances and live music.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman welcomed the delegates, which included managers, researchers and international students from the UK universities including University of Nottingham, University of York, School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London, University of Kent, Coventry University, University of Sheffiled and Middlesex University.
The officials of British Council and Punjab Higher Education Department were also present.
The traditional Punjabi Bhangra by GCU students on live dhol performance put the foreigners into a trance and they termed the Bhangra performance the most enthralling part of their one-week tour to Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor briefed the delegates about the policy formulation, vision, financial resources, research output, future plans and academic and research achievements of the university. All the delegates individually discussed with the Vice Chancellor scope for future collaboration with GCU and highly appreciated culture of student societies’ at the university which played an active role in the character building of its students. They appreciated the efforts of the vice chancellor for keeping GCU an affordable university for talented financially-challenged students of the society.
