National women kabaddi team training camp starts at Punjab Stadium

kabaddiLahore: The training camp of national women kabaddi team has begun at Punjab Stadium here on Tuesday. The camp is being organized for the preparation of Kabaddi World Cup 2014 on the directives of Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar. Kabaddi World Cup will be played in December this year in India.

On the opening day, women players did light training and played practice matches as well. As many as 16 players reported on the opening day of the camp. It may be recalled here that Pakistan women kabaddi team had reached the semifinal stage of their inaugural appearance in the Women Kabaddi World Cup 2013 in India.

Following are the camp trainees on the opening day of women kabaddi camp: Madeeha Latif, Martha, Zeenat Perveen, Razia Sultana, Saba, Neelum Riaz, Nida Butt, Sadia Khalil, Sadia Abdul Khaliq, Sumaira Zahoor, Twinkle Suhail, Saira Bano, Razia Perveen, Saira Shah and Syeda Farida Khanum.

On the other hand, Pakistan men’s kabaddi team also took part in the training camp. Trainer Mohammad Siddique supervised the physical training session and taught some vital tips to kabaddi players regarding perfect fitness. He gave separate attention to every player so that a hundred per cent fit and perfect team could be fielded for upcoming tough World Kabaddi League encounters.

Waqas Akbar, Manager of Lahore Lion Kabaddi team, while talking to media, said that in 2013, our men’s kabaddi team lost the final of world cup but this time, our teams is ready to face any kind of challenge in the showpiece event. “Our team has played plenty of kabaddi this year in different parts of world and this exposure will be very helpful for our boys,” he added.
