Lahore: October 15 is 474th birth anniversary of the Great Mughal Emperor Shahanshah Akbar-e-Azam. He was born on 15th of October 1542 near Umer Kot, Sindh. He was the third Mughal Emperor. As a ruler, Akbar introduced several far-sighted social reforms, including prohibiting sati, legalising widow remarriage and raising the age of marriage.
Mughal India developed a strong and stable economy, leading to commercial expansion and greater patronage of culture. He was fond of literature, and created a library of over 24,000 volumes. Akbar’s courts at Delhi, Agra, and Fatehpur Sikri became centres of the arts, letters, and learning. He left behind a lasting legacy of pluralism and tolerance that underlies the values of the modern republics of the subcontinent. Time magazine included his name in its list of top 25 world leaders.
President Great Mughals Memorial Society Pakistan Beg Raj has announced to celebrate the birthday in a great way to present tribute the Shahanshah Akbar-e-Azam.
