Clouds of martial law sheds away, democracy still on the death bed:Sirajul Haq

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has said that the clouds of martial law had shed away but the democracy in the country still remained on the death bed.siraj ul haq

Talking to the media at Mansoora after a call on by a Lahore High Court Bar association delegation,  he said that the political Jirga had made sincere efforts to pull the country out of the political crisis. He said that although the dead lock still prevailed but if the government proved through its actions that it was sincere in implementing the decisions upon which an agreement had been reached between the government and the PTI, the talks could be resumed.

The LHCBA delegation was headed by its President Shafqat Mahmood Chauhan and comprised its Vice President, Secretary and other office bearers. The delegation also extended an invitation to the JI Chief and other members of the Opposition Jirga to visit the Lahore High Court bar.

Sirajul Haq said that there had been least possibility of mid term elections, however, the government’s total failure to deliver was creating a room for that. The government, he said, was only struggling for its survival instead of providing relief to the people.

He said the government would have to take prompt steps for electoral reforms making the elections transparent and minimizing rigging chances, besides providing relief to the masses.

The JI chief lauded the sacrifices of the lawyers community for democracy, supremacy of the constitution and the judiciary and said that the lawyers had always been the vanguard in the struggle against dictatorship. He urged the legal community to highlight Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s efforts for building Pakistan as a model Islamic state. He also appreciated the introduction of the bio metric system in the High Court Bar elections and said that the nation as a whole would benefit from that.

Sirajul Haq said he had gone to Sialkot border area on Monday and visited the families whose kith and kin had been martyred in Indian shelling.  He said he had been told that no senior government representative  had visited the area,  which was deplorable.

The JI chief urged the government to  give a tit for tat reply to Indian unprovoked aggression causing heavy casualties.  He also warned Indian rulers that if they dared to thrust an war on this country, the Pakistani nation would rise as a man and repeat the history of the 1965 war. He said Indian rulers should understand that India, being a bigger country, would have to suffer much greater losses in case of war against this country.
