Judicial commission to probe Multan tragedy: Ch Brothers

Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi have demanded setting up of a judicial commission to probe the Multan tragedy.

In a joint statement here today, they said that those held responsible should be given exemplary punishment to those responsible, if an ordinary match was being played in the stadium the administration takes over the control to ensure that no untoward incident occurs, in Multan lakhs of people were present in the stadium who were left helpless, no amount of grief and sorrow was enough over loss of previous lives.

They said when the people started moving to go out after the public meeting was over all gates except two were closed which caused stampede, administration knew it beforehand that for exit of lakhs of people two gates were not enough, administration should be asked as to why all gates were not opened, when people were going out the administration intentionally switched off the lights which caused more damage.

They said that Punjab and Multan administration were responsible for the entire incident.
