Lahore: Spokesman Punjab government Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that after failure to get dead bodies in D Chowk, Imran Khan is using the tragic incident of Qasim Bagh for achieving his political ends. He said that instead of consoling his workers by staying in Multan, “Bohtan Khan” immediately went to Islamabad by a private plane. He said that Khan Sahib should stop leveling baseless allegations and indulging in politics of dead bodies to hide his own shortcomings. He said that holding district administration responsible for the tragic incident is unjustified and misleading as it is not the first example of mismanagement in the public meetings of PTI. He said that PTI leader Imran Ismail has also admitted that the arrangements for the public meeting at Qasim Bagh were not satisfactory. He said that when district administration tried to inform Imran Khan about mismanagement he stopped it and asked not to interrupt his speech. Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri further said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has constituted a 3-member committee to inquire into the incident.
He was addressing a heavily attended press conference at 90-Shara-e-Quaid-e-Azam, here today. Syed Zaeem Qadri said that the whole nation is grieved over the tragic incident at Qasim Bagh Stadium and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif have also expressed sorrow and grief. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif personally remained in contact with district administration and besides monitoring relief activities, also gave instructions for provision of medical facilities to the injured. He said that Chief Minister Punjab has constituted a 3-member inquiry committee headed by Secretary Environment Iqbal Muhammad Chauhan while DIG Ali Amir Malik and Special Secretary Home Shoaib Akbar are its members.
Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri further said that what happened in Multan is not the first example of mismanagement in the PTI public meetings as collapsing of the stage in Gulberg and Imran Khan’s injuries during election campaign prove that PTI administration does not have the ability to arrange public meetings or to control the participants. He said that PTI leadership is making futile efforts to hide its inefficiency by leveling baseless allegations against Punjab government. He said that Imran Khan should stop dreaming about ruling the country as the performance of PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is well known to the people. He said that PTI leadership should tell what it has done for flood affectees or IDPs. He said that it would have been much better if the money wasted on sit- ins and musical shows had been used for providing help and assistance to flood-hit people. He said that Shah Mahmood’s slogans against metro bus will not undermine the utility of this project as Pervaiz Khattak by following the development vision of Shahbaz Sharif is also launching metro bus project in KPK. He said that PTI leadership should stop hoodwinking the people. Similarly, he said, a ‘Joker’ from Rawalpindi is doing nothing except telling lies. He said that when Shah Mahmood Qureshi who has himself been in power in various capacities during the last 40 years was shedding crocodile tears over deprivations of South Punjab and Multan, his attention was drawn to the mismanagement in the public meeting but he paid no heed.
The spokesman Punjab government further said that it is totally wrong that PTI leaders selected the venue of the public meeting on the proposal of DCO. He said that there is handwritten application by PTI President Multan Ijaz Hussain Janjua asking for permission to hold a public meeting at Qasim Bagh Stadium on October 10. He said that the District President of PTI had written on stamp paper that security inside and outside the stadium will be the responsibility of PTI and workers had been deputed for this purpose. Moreover, PTI will be responsible for any untoward incident.
Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri further told that 2200 jawans had been deputed around the stadium while traffic remained normal in the whole city. He said that five out of six gates were opened and despite repeated announcement by administration on megaphone to use other gates for exit, no announcement was made from the stage for the guidance of the participants.
