Lahore: Federal Minister on Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan Barjees Tahir called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today. Matters of mutual interest, relief activities and rehabilitation of flood affectees were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that besides Punjab, flood has also caused massive destruction in Azad Kashmir. He expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the loss of precious human lives and property.
The Chief Minister said that Punjab government is carrying out rehabilitation work in days and not in months. He said that under first phase, rupees twenty five thousand per family will be given to the affectees for compensation of losses caused to houses. He said that payment of first installment is being started from October 1. He said that under the second phase, the payment of financial assistance will be started from October 20 to the affectees after assessing the losses caused to crops. Shahbaz Sharif said that arrangements for sacrificial of animals and meal will be made in the flood-hit areas on Eid ul Azha. Gifts will be given to affectees and children on Eid day, he added.
Federal Minister Barjees Tahir said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is taking keen interest in providing financial assistance and rehabilitation of flood affectees. He said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is working round the clock for helping the distressed brothers and sisters of the province.
