Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch who arrived in Saudi Arabia on a week long visit, has said that the JI leadership had been striving hard for a solution of the political crisis in the country on constitutional and democratic lines.
Talking to the Pakistani community in Madina Munawarah, he said that most of the demands of the protesting parties had already been met while the political Jirga had given proposals on the remaining issues. He said that the situation of uncertainty would create problems for the nation and the Pakistanis abroad. He said there was no provision for a national or a technocrats’ government in the constitution. He further said that only transfer of power in line with the constitution would be in the national interest.
Liaqat Baloch called on the Imams of the Masjid e Nabvi. He also attended a meeting of the representatives of the Pakistani business community and briefed them about the political and economic conditions. He said there were great prospects for trade and imports from Pakistan provided the present political crisis came to an end. He said that the on going sit- in in Islamabad and the postponement of the Chinese President’s visit had a negative impact. He said the government and the political leadership should realize the gravity of the situation and resolve the crisis at the earliest.
