kabaddi training camp starts at Punjab Stadium kabaddi training camp starts at Punjab Stadium kabaddi training camp starts at Punjab StadiumLahore: The kabaddi training camp, for the preparation of Kabaddi World Cup and upcoming important matches of World Kabaddi League (WKL), has started at Punjab Stadium on Monday.

As many as 30 players have reported on the opening day of camp. The camp is being held under the special directives of Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar and being supervised by Lahore Lions head coach Ghulam Abbas Butt.

Director General Sports Board Punjab Usman Anwar, in his message, advised the national Kabaddi coaches to also focus on individual performances of young players during training camp.

Lahore Lions manager Waqas Akbar told the media persons that in all, 70 top players of National Kabaddi Championship are being trained at the camp. “Director General SBP Usman Anwar has issued special instructions regarding the rigorous training of national Kabaddi players so that they can offer satisfactory performance against any side of the world in the mega event like World Cup,” he informed.

Waqas further said that the Lahore Lions head coach Ghulam Abbas Butt and his team has chalked out a hectic schedule for the professional training of young players. “They have planned regular practice matches among camp trainees to give them much needed match practice and whet their kabaddi skills. After the completion of camp training, 35 players will be short listed for the Kabaddi World Cup being staged from December 5 to 15, 2014,” he added.

Waqas further said that the prominent players of camp will also be tried in the ongoing World Kabaddi League matches. “The players will be imparted training in two sessions daily at the camp. The first session will be conducted from 5.00am to 8.00am in which the probables will undergo physical training while the second session will be held from 3.00pm to 7.00pm,” he explained.
