Lahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi has said that floodwater has caused damage of more than ten billion rupees to infrastructure.
He said that payment of compensation to the heirs of 80% deceased who lost their lives in the flood and rains has been completed. He said that flow of water in rivers in Punjab is normal and administration and concerned departments have started a survey of damage to the houses and crops in the areas where water has receded. He said that district administration is also continuing drainage of water with dewatering sets from low-lying-areas while medical teams are providing medical assistance to the people of flood-hit areas against viral diseases.
He said that second installment of 35 crore rupees to the IDPs at the rate of seven thousand rupees per family will be made before Eid-ul-Azha while 35 crore rupees were paid to 50 thousand displaced families in the first phase. Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi further told that edible and essential items worth eight crore rupees have also been sent to the IDPs through 216 trucks.
