Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that mobile medical teams and health centers of Punjab Health Department have extended treatment facilities to 160988 patients in flood affected areas. He said that 425 medical centres and 366 mobile health teams are providing healthcare to the flood affectees round the clock. Moreover, 194 ambulances have also been provided for shifting of patients.
Kh. Salman Rafique further said that vaccination campaign has also been launched in the flood affected districts on emergency basis and so far 34598 children have been vaccinated against measles whereas 38490 children of upto 5 years of age have been given polio drops. While 1845 pregnant women vaccinated against tetanus. He said that according to the data received from EDOs Health of concerned districts reveals that the mostly people are suffering Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI), cough and flu. He said that only 9 percent gastroenteritis cases have been reported from flood-hit districts. He said that so far no report of any kind of epidemic reported from the concerned districts and there is no extraordinary situation in the flood affected areas.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that sufficient stock of life saving drugs, anti-snake venom and anti-rabies vaccine is available in the government hospitals and medical relief camps of flood affected districts. He said that Provincial Health authorities have a close liaison with the representatives of WHO and UNICEF in Pakistan and both international partners have assured full cooperation for improving Primary Health Care, Extended Programme of Immunization, Health Education, Mother & Child Health, Communication and Improvement of Environmental Sanitation Condition in flood affected districts.
