Anti-Dengue Day has been observed throughout the province

On this occasion, special cleanliness / sweeping campaign launched in government buildings and the stagnant water and solid waste has been removed from the roofs and premises of government buildings. Special awareness seminars and walks have also been organized for public participation. In this connection, Director General Health Punjab, Dr. Zahid Pervez supervised cleanliness drive in the Directorate General Health Services office at Cooper Road.DCO Lhr

Moreover, a seminar was organized in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in which MS Dr. Umer Farooq Baloch, staff and nurses of the hospital participated. Focal person for dengue Dr. Rashid Iqbal delivered lecture on dengue patient care. Earlier, Medical Superintendent Dr. Umer Baloch took around of the hospital building and monitors the cleanliness arrangements.

Meanwhile, a seminar was organized in the Punjab Institute of Mental Health (PIMH), Jail Road. Chief Executive PIMH, Dr. Nasir Mehmood Bhatti, Dr. Nusrat Jabeen, Dr. Razi Haider, Dr. Imran Afzal and a large number of nurses and the patients of the institution attended the seminar. On this occasion, medical experts gave lectures regarding the mental and neurological complications occurred due to dengue fever in the patient. At the end of the seminar, a walk also been held in the premises of PIMH.Dengue Walk

Nishtar Town Administration organized a walk for the awareness of dengue fever and a large number of people attended the walk. On the occasion, the speakers said that youngsters, NGOs and students should extend full cooperation to the government for eradicating dengue virus and join the going on awareness campaign in this regard and the government is extending every possible cooperation to the students and educational institutions for holding seminars and walks in this regard.

The speaker further told the participants of walk that boys and girls students can inform the society about preventive steps against dengue virus in a better way and positive results have been brought out after the participation of male and female students in the campaign against dengue fever. Every person of the society has to play its due role to eliminate dengue virus as the Punjab government is utilizing its all resources for this purpose, the speaker added.

In line with the directions of the Punjab Government, offices of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) in Lahore, along-with two regional offices in Rawalpindi and Multan, remained open on Sunday on account of Anti-Dengue Day. The staff was available in the offices and general cleanliness was ensured so that dengue virus may not surface in the office premises.

MD-PEF Dr. Aneela Salman inspected different sections of the head office and asked the staff to remain vigilant in fight against dengue. She said that partner schools should also hold various co-curricular activities including posters and quiz competitions to sensitize their students about the hazards of dengue disease and how they can help fight it.

MD PEF further directed that partner schools may also hold ‘zero periods’ for educating their students about fatal disease of dengue. She said that teachers, being the best role model, can play active role in raising awareness about it.

On anti-dengue day, PEF communication department displayed immaculately designed anti-dengue banners and colorful posters at conspicuous places in office for public awareness.

Meanwhile, various private schools attached with Punjab Education Foundation in different districts of the province also remained open. They cleaned their schools and carried out necessary fumigation.

On the directions of Punjab government, anti-dengue day was observed at the office of Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT).

Deputy Manager  Admin, Usman Anwar gave a briefing on the measures to be adopted for prevention from dengue.

PBIT adopted comprehensive measures for eradicating the chances of the presence of dengue larva in and around the PBIT office building, water accumulated in different parts was dried and an insecticide spray was sprayed to counter the spread of dengue.

A walk was also organized, where the participants were informed that eradication of dengue is not possible through a temporary campaign but a vigorous and continuous movement. Awareness material regarding the causes and prevention of dengue was also distributed among PBIT employees and general people.
