Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) commemorated Baldia Town, Karachi and Bund Road, Lahore, Factory Fires as 9/11 of Pakistan on Thursday, as around 300 people had lost their lives in twin factory fires on 11thSeptember 2012.
DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer stated that this is 9/11 of Pakistan, when around 300 lives were lost in back-to-back incidents of fire at Baldia Town Karachi Garment Fire & Bund Road Lahore Factory Fire. He said that Fire Service of Rescue 1122 has saved losses worth over Rs 170 by responding to over 58, 000 fire incidents across the province through timely & professional firefighting. Dr. Rizwan Naseer asked them to ensure implementation of fire safety codes and do not risk their lives and investment to save small amount of money. He further appealed to the Business Community and High Rise Building Owners to ensure implementation of Fire Safety Codes and not risk lives for investment, adding that even if we establish the best fire service in the world it cannot be effective without implementation of fire safety codes. He further said that high rise buildings without proper exits and violation of building and fire safety codes shall be the disasters of future.
According to the details; Rescue 1122 Fire Service, Lahore responded to 16122 fire incidents & saved losses worth over Rs 9810 million; Rawalpindi responded to 4293 and saved Rs 3101m, Faisalabad to 7058 and saved Rs 4134m, Multan to 4095 and saved Rs 9342m, Gujranwala responded to 4081 and saved Rs 2455m, Sargodha responded to 1690 & saved Rs 1277m, DG Khan responded to 1471 & saved losses Rs 567m, RY Khan responded to 1325 & saved Rs 667m, Bahawalpur responded to 1541 & saved Rs 524m, Sahiwal to 1716 & saved Rs 336m, Sialkot to 2942 & saved Rs 1170m, Murree to 354 & saved Rs 942, Attock to 429 & saved Rs 515, Rajanpur to 494 & saved Rs 144m, Jhelum to 418 & saved Rs 262m, Khanewal to 628 & saved Rs 662, Muzaffargarh to 316 & saved Rs 260m, Jhang to 816 & saved Rs 254m, Gujrat to 687 & saved Rs 695m, Kasure to 484 & saved Rs 201m, TT Singh to 362 & saved Rs 503m, Mianwali to 368 & saved Rs 146m, Pakpattan to 282 & saved Rs 50m, Bhakkar to 340 & saved Rs 173m, Chakwal to 375 & saved Rs 93m, Hafizabad to 638 & saved Rs 834m, Khushab to 284 & saved Rs 108, and losses estimated worth billion of rupees were saved during professional firefighting in other provinces.
