Lahore: Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Aamir Sohail Mirza has said that all provincial departments will extend cooperation to district and town administrations for eradication of dengue. He said that no negligence will be tolerated in this regard. He directed that officers of every town should personally monitor dengue surveillance teams and complete sweeping should be conducted in those union council or area where dengue patient is reported.
He said this while addressing a meeting of officers of all towns of Lahore at Civil Secretariat today. Advisor to CM on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique especially attended the meeting. Commissioner Lahore Rashid Mehmood Langrial, DCO Lahore Capt. (R) Muhammad Usman, Additional Secretary Health (Technical) Dr. Salman Shahid, Additional Director General Health Vector Borne Diseases Dr. Islam Zafar, MD WASA, officers of Environment, PHA, Punjab Information Technology Board departments, administrators of all towns, Deputy District Health Officers and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Additional Chief Secretary directed town administrators to carry out complete sweeping of sensitive union councils and officers should personally monitor this work. He said that if any negligence is found, action will be taken against the officers responsible. He said that provincial government will provide all out support to town administration for eradication of dengue. Aamir Sohail Mirza said that the meeting of town response committees will be held every night at Civil Secretariat to review their performance.
Commissioner Lahore Rashid Mehmood Langrial told that 1200 more officials have been recruited for dengue surveillance in Lahore and they have been posted in the town as per requirement. He said that due to increase in manpower, dengue surveillance work has been improved considerably. He told that dengue clearance certificate is being obtained from the owners of factories in factory area of Tehsil Ferozwala so that they should take steps according to dengue regulations. He said that if dengue is found during inspection, action will be taken against the factories.
Addressing the meeting, Kh. Salman Rafique stressed upon all officers to continue dengue control activities with focused approach. He said that participation of community for eradication of dengue is essential. He said that month of September is important due to rains, therefore, we will have to work with devotions and dedication for eradication of dengue.
