Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif visited various areas of the city late at night and reviewed the situation of drainage of rainwater. Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin, Commissioner, DCO Lahore and concerned authorities accompanied the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister reviewed the rainwater situation at GPO Chowk, Haji Camp on Nicolson Road, Aik Moria Pul and Lakshmi Chowk during rain. The Chief Minister also inquired from the citizens about government measures regarding drainage of rainwater. Shahbaz Sharif directed the administration to drain out the rainwater from low-lying areas at the earliest.
On the arrival of Chief Minister at Lakshmi Chowk, a large number of people gathered and raised slogans “Sher Aaya, Sher Aaya”. The Chief Minister mingled with the people freely and inquired from them about rainwater situation. The citizens while talking to the Chief Minister said that your team has done a good job and ensured timely drainage of rainwater. An emotional citizen requested the Chief Minister not to resign otherwise he will suicide. On the slogans by the citizens against a leader, Shahbaz Sharif asked them not to raise such slogans and expressed the hope that truth and democracy will win.
Later, the Chief Minister visited the house of the family whose six members died due to collapse of roof of house as a result of rain at Chah Miran, Misri Shah and expressed condolences with the family on this tragic incident. The Chief Minister expressed sympathies with the affected family and also offered Fateha for the departed souls. The Chief Minister announced financial assistance of Rs.one crore for the affected family and government job for two brothers. He also ordered inquiry regarding late arrival by the rescue team. Provincial Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, Members Provincial Assembly Ch. Shahbaz and Ghazali Butt were also present on the occasion.
When Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif was presiding over a meeting regarding drainage of rainwater in Lahore, a provincial minister present in the meeting drew the attention of Chief Minister towards a statement of PTI leader Khurshid Kasuri that if Chinese President is ready to visit Pakistan, PTI will end its sit-in from Constitution Avenue. To this Shahbaz Sharif read the following couplet:
Ki Meray Qatal Kay Baad Us Ney Jafaa Se Toba
Hai Us Zood Pasheman Ka Pashema Hona
The Chief Minister expressing his shock over the postponement of visit of Chinese President said that foreign enemy might not cause such huge loss to Pakistan as is being caused due to the enemies of democracy and development of the country. However, Shahbaz Sharif expressed the hope that those dreaming about failure of projects of rehabilitation of economy and elimination of loadshedding in Pakistan will have to face humiliation and Pakistan, under the leadership of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, will continue its development journey. Shahbaz Sharif said that Khurshid Kasuri has admitted through this statement that PTI is interfering in state affairs through sit-in on Constitution Avenue.
