Provincial Zakat Council has given approval of Rs. 2775.314 million in various heads of Zakat

Lahore: Provincial Zakat Council has given approval of Rs. 2775.314 million in various heads of Zakat. This amount will be provided to district zakat committees for distribution among deserving persons during financial year 2014-15.

This was decided at a meeting presided over by Chairman Provincial Zakat Council Justice (R) Akhtar Hassan. Secretary Zakat & Usher Habibur Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Punjab Hamid Yousaf Butt, Deputy Administrator Zakat (Field) Muhammad Sajjad Babar, Council Members Hafiz Zubair Ahmed Zaheer, Maulana Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Saeed Ahmed Ansari, Muhammad Azhar Farooqi, Ms. Tanvir Kausar, representatives of Finance, Local Government and Social Welfare Departments attended the meeting.

Provincial Zakat Council has given approval to the release of Rs. 689.321 million as subsistence allowance for deserving persons, Rs. 103.398 million as educational scholarships (General) for deserving male and female students studying in colleges and universities, Rs. 91.909 million for deserving male and female students studying in religious seminaries, Rs. 68.933 million for the treatment of deserving patients in tehsil and district headquarters hospitals, Rs. 91.909 million as marriage grant for poor and deserving girls at Rs. 20 thousand per person, Rs. 103.398 million for assistance and rehabilitation of deserving persons, Rs. 1052.218 million as educational scholarships (Technical) for deserving male and female students getting training in vocational training institutes established under Punjab Vocational Training Council, Rs. 120 million as subsistence allowance for deserving blind persons, Rs. 1.2 million as monthly subsistence allowance for deserving leprosy patients at Aihatah Korian Rawalpindi and Rs. 248.800 million for the treatment of deserving patients through health welfare committees set up in hospitals and medical institutions at provincial level. The council while giving approval to the Zakat budget has directed to immediately release first installment of various heads of Zakat.
