Lahore: Sports Board Punjab’s Lahore Lions kabaddi team will overcome its frailties in the next phase of World Kabaddi League; these views were expressed by Waqas Akbar, team manager of Lahore Lions team at Wahga Border after returning from India along with his team on Monday. SBP officials and a large number of kabaddi fans accorded a warm welcome to the team at Wahga Border.
Waqas said that his team will offer satisfactory performance in its next matches being staged in India next week. “In the first two phases, our team demonstrated a reasonable performance and won three World Kabaddi League matches out of four encounters in England and India,” he added.
Babar Waseem Gujjar, the skipper of Lahore Lions Kabaddi team, was of the view that his raiders particularly Shafiq Chishti and Akmal Shahzad Dogar exhibited wonderful game against Punjab Thunder. “Against Khalsa Warriors, our boys tried their best but the luck did not favour them and resultantly, they lost the game by a slender margin,” he explained.
Lahore Lions’ coach Ghulam Abbas Butt told the media that his boys were in great spirits and a single bad match could not shatter their determination. “We have noticed the grey areas in our game and we will try our best to rectify these shortcomings in next important matches. Our team will play the upcoming encounters with renewed zeal,” he asserted.
