Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has warned that the intransigence of those demanding resignations and those rejecting the demand should not end up in the demise of democracy and the constitution.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that the entire nation and the Pakistanis abroad were deeply concerned over the persisting political crisis and wanted its quick and peaceful solution.
Liaqat Baloch said that on the instructions of the JI chief, Sirajul Haq, he had contacted important political leaders including Syed Khurshid Shah, Ch. Aitzaz Ehsan, Hasil Bizenjo, Mehmud Khan Achakzai, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, and Asma Jehangir, and they all had stressed the urgent need for national unity for resolving the present crisis in the national spirit and in accordance with the constitution.
Liaqat Baloch said that if Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif tendered resignations voluntarily, nobody would object to that, however, their resignations under the pressure of protest wont be a healthy tradition.
