PM resignation demand is unlawful till rigging is proved:Siraj ul Haq

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq, has said that the demand for the Prime Minister’s resignation would be lawful only if some constitutional institution gave the verdict that the May 2013 elections were massively rigged  and the assemblies were bogus.

Siraj ul Haq Talking to the media at Mansoora after a meeting of the JI provincial chiefs and central office bearers, he said the JI wanted the participants of the sit-ins to return home successfully. However, the consensus of the political parties was that no unconstitutional solution would be accepted, and added that even if the sit=in continued for one hundred days, only the constitutional way out would be adopted.

The JI chief stressed that the court order for the registration of the FIR of the Model own killings must be complied with. He said if the rulers appeared before the court, their image would improve.

He said the nation desired the two sides to sit together and workout a political solution and not to wait for the third option or the interference by the third party. He said the JI was continuing its role of mediator with the support of other parties and he was hopeful that a political solution would be found out soon.

Sirajul Haq said the JI leaders attending the meeting had expressed grave concern over the worsening situation in the federal capital and they have appealed to the government as also the protesting parties to show flexibility and find out an early solution of the issues. They also lauded the Establishment’s role so far.

Sirajul Haq said that most of the demands of the protesting parties were the voice of the masses. He said both protesting parties were talking of the peoples rights, the supremacy of the constitution and democracy. He said Imran Khan’s demand for the reconstitution of the Election Commission in order to ensure transparent elections was the demand of the entire nation and the JI and all other political parties had already supported this demand.
