Lahore: The Jamaat e Islami and the Jamiat e Ulema Islam(S) have expressed the view that any unconstitutional step at this juncture would be disastrous for the country.
This was stressed during a meeting between a JI delegation JI led by its Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, with the JUI(S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq, at Akora Khattak, on Monday, August 25, 2014.
The two sides said it was the duty of all parties to safeguard the constitution, the parliament and the democratic system.
They expressed grave concern that the protest rallies and sit-in in Islamabad had been converted into music and cultural shows and were promoting immorality and vulgarity. They said there were norms of political and democratic protests but the language being used by the protesting parties was foul and indecent.
The said it was unfortunate that the issue of one million IDPs and their deplorable plight had gone into the background because of the protest in the federal capital. They said that if most of the North Waziristan are had been cleared of terrorists, the IDPs from these areas should be allowed to return home.
JIP deputy Secretary General Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha and JUI(S) provincial chief Maulana Yousuf Shah were also present.
