Lahore: Both the cops who were martyred during present unrest in the city were laid to rest.Their funeral prayer was offered in Police Lines Qila Gujar singh Lahore.A large number of officers and officials including CCPO Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed Gujjar,DIG ops Dr Haider Ashraf,SSP Admin Rana Shahzad Akbar,SP security Omar Saeed Malik,SP City Asad Sarfraz Khan,SP HQ Maroof Safdar Wahla and MNA Pervaiz Malik attended the funeral prayer.Lahore Police also presented salute to the martyr’s body.
On the occasion,CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed and MNA Malik Pervaiz talked to media and said we are proud of our brave soldiers who embraced martyrdom for the Nation and the country.Lahore Police would continue to give sacrifices for this noble cause and will not allow the terrorist and their fellows to disturb peace in the city.
Nimaz-e-Janaza of Constable Malik Muhammad Fayyaz of Punjab police who was martyred due to violence of workers of Pakistan Awami Tehrik at Bhera Interchange, was offered at his native village Sahootra, Pind Dadan Khan. Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Provincial Minister for Housing Tanvir Aslam, Punjab Assembly members Nazar Muhammad Gondal, Mehr Fayyaz, former MPA Nadim Khadim, Additional IG Punjab Sarmad Saeed, RPO Rawalpindi Akhtar Hayyat Laleka, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Commissioner Sargodha Retd. Muhammad Asif, DIG Sargodha Aamir Ishaq Jehangir, DCO Jhelum Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman, DPO Jhelum Sarfaraz Khan Virk, senior police and civil officials, elected representatives, elite of the area and police officials attended Namaz-e-Janaza in large numbers. Raja Ashfaq Sarwar represented Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
Talking to media-men on the occasion, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that the history of Punjab Police is full of great sacrifices for the protection of life and property of people, overcoming terrorism and maintenance of law and order in the province. He said that the government and people are proud of great sacrifices of police.
The Provincial Minister said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif have paid tributes to the valor of Shaheed Malik Muhammad Fayyaz and Chief Minister has announced one crore rupees for Shaheed Malik Fayyaz. He said embracing martyrdom is a great honour and the way Shaheed Malik Muhammad Fayyaz sacrificed his life during the performance of duties is highly appreciable.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that the martyrdom of Malik Fayyaz proves that nation does not accept any foreign agenda. He said that the Punjab government will provide financial support to the family of Shaheed Fayyaz. He also announced construction and repair of Sahootra Road and naming it after Malik Muhammad Fayyaz. He said that Punjab police is taking all possible steps for the maintenance of law and order in the province and government is providing all out resources for the welfare of the police.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar met the family of Shaheed Malik Muhammad Fayyaz and conveyed the sentiments of Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab to them. Sufi Mumtaz Hussain, Brother of Shaheed Malik Fayyaz thanked Chief Minister Punjab and provincial ministers for sharing their grief and attending the Namaz-e-Janaza.
Later, Punjab Police presented salute to the Shaheed Malik Muhammad Fayyaz and floral wreaths were laid on behalf of Prime Minister, Chief Minister, IG Police Punjab, Additional IG and RPO Rawalpindi.
