Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, has said that the JI had presented a four point formula to the Prime Minister for resolve the present stalemate that was practicable and honorable for all sides, and the ball was now in the government’s court.
Addressing a press conference at Al-Markaz Islami, Peshawar on Thursday, he said that the country was facing numerous crises and the masses were concerned about the constitution and the democracy.
He said that PTI chairman Imran Khan was the aggrieved party and his workers were preparing for Azadi march. He said had the Election Commission fulfilled its responsibilities, the situation would not have arrived.
He said, August 14 was the Independence Day and the JI did not want any trouble on that occasion. He said he had had meetings with important leaders of major parties and had also heard Imran Khan.
Later, he had met the Prime Minister and apprised him of the PTI’s stance. He had also presented an acceptable formula and the Prime Minister had promised to take a decision after consultation with his comrades.
The JI chief however emphasized that time was short and if the decision was not taken promptly, the situation would get out of hand.
Sirajul Haq said that some people wanted a show in Islamabad to overcome their feelings of defeat and were sprinkling fuel on fire. He said if there was an accident, the process of development would be disturbed. He remarked that the honeymoon was over and all the political parties should implement their manifestoes and fulfill their promises to the people.
The JI chief said that all were against rigging and endorsed PTI demand on this score. He said there had been rigging in Karachi, Hyderabad and tribal areas.
Replying to a question, he said that the armed forces should not interfere as the country could not afford that. However, if there was some accident, anything could happen.
Meanwhile, Jamaat e Islami has decided to celebrate the Independence Day on August 14 in a befitting manner with special emphasis on promoting national unity through involvement of prominent personalities from all walks of life.
The JI Ameer Sirajul Haq has issued instructions to JI leaders at all levels and its sister organizations to celebrate the Independence Day with great enthusiasm. He has directed that the national flag be hoisted atop all JI offices and prominent political, religious and social leaders from different parties be invited on these occasions.
The youth associated with the Shabab e Milli have been instructed to organize flag bearing motorcycle rallies on the day while the Islami Jamiat e Talaba has been asked to arrange torch bearing rallies at night.
On the other hand,Prime Minister, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Ch. Abdul Majeed,on Thursday rang up Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Sirajul Haq, and invited him to the Independence Day function being organized by the AJK government on August ten.
The JI chief thanked the AK Premier for the invitation. However, he said that the JI was organizing countrywide rallies and meetings on August ten to express the nation’s solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians. As such, it was not possible for him to attend the AK government function on the day. However, he assured the AJK leader that he would find time to be with them in the near future.
