CM receives more cheques for IDPs

CM PUNJAB-1Lahore: Member Provincial Assembly Ch. Muhammad Yousaf, renowned industrialists Khawaja Muhammad Masood, Jalal Din Roomi and Sohaib Bhatti met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif here today and presented cheques for one crore sixty lakh rupees for Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for IDPs. A prominent industrial group presented one crore rupees, Member Provincial Assembly Ch. Muhammad Yousaf 35 lakh rupees while Jalal Din Roomi and his father Khawaja Muhammad Masood 25 lakh rupees.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that the spirit to help those who have been displaced due to war against terrorism in North Waziristan is commendable and those who are helping the affected families will be rewarded by Allah Almighty. He said that help and assistance to lakhs of displaced brethren and sisters is a national and religious obligation. He said that it is not a time to make political capital but to extend maximum help to distressed people and all segments of society should come forward for this purpose and donate generously to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for IDPs.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government is spending every penny of donations for the help of displaced persons in a transparent manner. He said that Punjab government is extending all out help and assistance to IDPs and this process will continue till their complete rehabilitation.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the government has distributed financial assistance of millions of rupees among the affected families at the rate of Rs.7000 per family. He said that government and people of Punjab are standing by their Pakhtun brethren and sisters in the moment of trial and all out resources will be provided for their help and rehabilitation.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif met with federal minister Khurram Dastgir Khan.During the has CM said that economic situation of the country has improved while foreign exchange reserves have increased during one year’s tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-N government. He said that rupee has stabilized against dollar but protest politics is leaving a negative impact on economy. He said that government has been given mandate for five years and no conspiracy against democratic system will succeed.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the elements creating hurdles in the govt process of national development will be rejected by the masses. Overall situation of the country and matters of mutual interest were discussed in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that it is not the time for revolution or long march but to express solidarity with the officers and Jawans of Pak Army who are fighting against terrorism and help the displaced persons of North Waziristan. He said that in a democratic setup solution to problems is found through negotiations and the doors of the government are open for dialogue. He said that there is no room for negative activities and confrontation in politics. He said that ball tempering of those who are raising hue and cry of so-called rigging will not work.

Shahbaz Sharif said that politics is the name of selfless service to the masses and PML-N government has taken solid measures for the welfare and betterment of people while several welfare programmes are being completed expeditiously. However, he said, Tahrik-e-Insaf leadership wants to cover up the failure and poor performance of its government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the garb of protest. He said while on the one hand the leadership and the head of Tehrik-e-Insaf raise slogans of elimination of corruption but on the other hand want to launch a movement with the help of those who set world records of corruption during the era of dictatorship. He said that it was the time when robbery of 70 billion dollars was committed at Punjab Bank while bank loans of billions of rupees were got written off. He said that international institutions had also declared Punjab the most corrupt province at that time.

The Chief Minister said that Imran Khan, who had named these political elements as the biggest thieves and dacoits in the Pakistani politics, is now talking of starting a movement with their support. He said that people are fully aware who is serving them selflessly and who is indulging in negative politics. Those who want to achieve their negative designs through promoting anarchy and chaos will never succeed in their efforts, he added.
