Lahore: Walton Cantt authorities made its most of the administrated area like Karbala on Eid as there was no water in Madina Colony,Akramabad and Gulbahar Colony since two days. Neither PML-N MNA Khawaja Saad Rafique,MPA Yaseen Sohal nor Walton Cantt authorities made any effort to make tubewells in order so people could get water on the occasion of Eid.
The residents have urged Punjab CM to take notice of the issue.The residents staged protest on Eid against the continuous disconnection of potable water supply .
The protesters were chanting slogans against the WCA and the elected representatives including Khawaja Saad Rafique and Yaseen Sohal for leaving them without portable water.”We have no drop of water to drink in the constituency from where the Minister for Railways grabbed his seat, Javaid Iqbal, a resident of Gulbahar Colony said.“We have been passing through mental pain due to the unavailability of potable water for our kids.
Most of the times we don’t have water to drink even. The elected representatives have failed to redress the genuine issue of the residents,” a resident of Akramabad, Nasir said.“Despite the fact that administration collects millions of Rs in the name of water tax but they are unable to spend few thousands Rs for repairing the tubewells.” he said adding that all these problems are only for the people who living in colonies but their neighbour society Cavalry Ground had never face such problem as the residents of the Cavalry Grounds have the power to fix any officer.
Residents said that the acute shortage of water has forced the residents to live without taking a in a day in such a hot weather. The residents said that WCBA high ups have no fear of Allah Almighty and forcing the people to live without the water. They said that they have complained to the concerned staff but they have always turned a deaf ear to the residents’ grievance.
The residents urged the third time elected CM Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of unavailability of water on Eid days.Hundreds of people took to the streets in various parts of the localities on Tuesday to protest against water shortage.
“We were already facing electricity and gas loadshedding and now water has also become scarce,” a resident Razzaq said, the government must take immediate steps to restore the water supply,he added.
