Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain has strongly criticized the enforcement of Article 245 decision of the govt and said that the govt should not make the army shield for achieving its political aims, prior to the enforcement of Article 245 the govt should ensure the army providing constitutional protection by the parliament for steps taken by the army during this period.
In a statement issued here today he said despite worse law and order situation in Karachi no measures had been taken under Article 245 but calling the army in Islamabad on the basis of presumptions was not understandable.
Ch Shujat Hussain said that it was not wise to put the Armed Forces of Pakistan into difficulties during operation Zarb-e-Azb, in case of no indemnity the rulers would push the army into constitutional bog.
He said further that in the background of constitutional history of Pakistan, military actions of General Zia ul Haq and General Pervez Musharraf were given constitutional protection according to the Constitution from the parliament, likewise it would be essential that in the present circumstances the military actions were provided constitutional by the parliament.
