Lahore: General Secretary Pakistan Muslim League-N and Provincial Minister for Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that country is passing through a critical juncture and cannot afford politics of protest in view of security concerns and terrorism. He said that unity and solidarity is need of the hour for the security and survival of the country.
He said this while informing the media men about the details of programmes for observing month-long Independence Day celebrations under the aegis of PML-N Punjab during a press conference at Chief Minister’s office today. President PML-N Youth Wing Mian Ghulam Hussain Shahid, Parliamentary Secretary on Information Rana Muhammad Arshad, Ijaz Hafeez and office-bearers of Muslim League were present.
Replying to the questions Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that Imran Khan is leveling allegations against those institutions to which he had expressed full confidence before general elections. He said that PTI is criticizing that system through which it has arrived in the parliament. Replying to a question with regard to Azadi March of Imran Khan, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that country is facing terrorism and protection of life and property is priority of the government which will fulfill it at all costs.
While informing the details of month-long functions of Independence Day, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar told that PML-N under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will celebrate Independence Day from August 1 to August 30 in a befitting manner. He said that national flags will be hoisted in streets, houses, bazaars and public places and this campaign will continue from August 1 to 5. He said that PML-N will hold consultative meetings with party workers, district presidents and office-bearers at divisional level from August 5 to 7 under a “contact campaign” in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala and Sheikhupura and get proposals for strengthening contacts between district leaderships and administration besides restoring confidence and resolving problems of the workers. He said that on August 8, a labour rally will be taken out in Lahore whereas function will be held on August 9 by Muslim League Lawyers’ Wing and on August 10 by Muslim League Traders’ Wing. He said that on August 11, minority community will also observe a solidarity day. On August 12, Women Day will be observed while on August 13, tributes will be paid to martyrs of Pakistan Movement.
On August 14, colourful programmes and functions will be held like every year to celebrate Independence Day in a befitting manner. On August 15, special prayers will be offered for the solidarity and security of the country in mosques, churches and temples. On August 16 and 17, kabbadi, hockey, football and cricket matches will be held at divisional and district and tehsil headquarters.
On August 18, a large number of male and female students will participate in Muslim Students Federation Day, whereas on August 19, the importance of security and survival of the country will be highlighted in present situation on Solidarity Day.
On August 21 an important function of Independence Day will be held at Alhamra under PML-N Labour Wing. On August 23, a seminar will be held by Youth Wing for creating spirit of patriotism. From August 24 to 29, all PML-N wings, traders, kissan, labour and students will attend the functions for highlighting the real spirit of message of Pakistan Movement at local level.
The concluding function of month-long celebrations will be held at Alhamra on August 30 in which the performance of those districts which celebrated Independence Day functions in a befitting manner will be encouraged by the senior leadership.
