Lahore: Editor in Chief Nawa i Waqt group who has passed away early in the morning, is laid to rest in Miani Sahib graveyard nearby his wife’s grave.His funeral was offered at Lawrence garden where a large number of people from all walks of life attended the funeral prayer.
People were told 43 Mason Road venue for funeral prayers but at the eleventh hour the coffin was taken to Lawrence Garden for the prayers.
The deceased nephews Arif Nizami, Shoaib Nizami,Ahmad Kamal Nizami,Babar Nizami,Azam Badar,CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif,Governor Punjab Dr Ch Muhammad Sarwar,JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, Khawaja Saad Rafique,Munir Ahmad Khan,Col.(r) Amjad Hussain Sayyed,Col (r) Jamshed Ahmed Tarin, Dr. Ajmal Niazi, Justice (r) Aftab Farrukh,Jamaatud Dawa president Hafiz Saeed Ahmad,Former president Rafique Tarar,Dr Rafique Ahmad,Exective Editor Dunia News Salman Ghani,former DE Nawa i Waqt Irshad Ahmad Arif,columnist Ruaf Tahir,former sercretary to CM Dr Toqir,SP Civil lines Imtiaz Sarwar,Chief Reporter Nawa i Waqt Khawaja Furrukh Saeed ,Senior reporter Saif ullah Sapra,Syed Adnan Farooq,Ashraf Ch,Ehsan Shokat and many more attended the last ceremony of Dr Majeed Nizami.
At the occasion two unpleasant incident took place too , MPA Khawaja Imran Nazir scolded the CM’s media adviser for not providing him place to stand in first row to offer funeral prayer and Arif Nizami badly treated a cop on duty for asking him” please enter the funeral place through the metal detector gate”.
Editor the Nation Saleem Bukhari and DE Nawa-i-waqt Saeed Aasi could not be seen in funeral prayer who posed to be more sincere persons of the world with the deceased. Their absence badly felt and it given a chance for rumors that they may have joined hands with the family members who are claimant as a legal heirs of Dr Majeed Nizami.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of Dr. Majid Nizami, Editor Daily Nawa-e-Waqt. The Chief Minister went to the residence of Dr. Majid Nizami today morning and condoled with the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister shouldered the funeral and offered Nimaz-e-Janaza at Bagh-e-Jinnah. Later, after the burial of Dr. Majid Nizami in Miani Sahib Graveyard, he laid floral wreath on the grave and offered fateha.
Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while paying tributes to Dr. Majeed Nizami for his invaluable services in the field of journalism, safeguarding of Nazria-e-Pakistan, welfare of the workers of Pakistan Movement, strengthening of democracy and supremacy of law, said that a glorious and historic chapter of journalism has ended due to the death of Dr. Majid Nizami. He said, no doubt, the commitment of Dr. Majid Nizami for the promotion of democracy and democratic values was uncontroversial and unflinching.
He said that the history of supremacy of constitution and strengthening of democracy in the country can never complete without mentioning the role of Dr. Majeed Nizami. He said that Dr. Majeed Nizami held the rulers strictly accountable in every era and provided guidance to the people at every stage.
Later, talking to media at the residence of Dr. Majeed Nizami on Lawrence Road, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the death of Dr. Majid Nizami has caused irreparable loss to the country and the nation and a historic era has ended. He said that the void created due to the death of Dr. Majid Nizami will never be filled.
He said, no doubt, Dr. Majeed Nizami was a patriot and true Pakistani and the custodian of geographical basis of the country. The Chief Minister said that Dr. Majid Nizami has always fully protected Nazria-e-Pakistan and created the spirit of patriotism among the youth from the platform of Nazria-e-Pakistan Trust. His services for the promotion and publication of Nazria-e-Pakistan are unforgettable, he added.
The Chief Minister said that late Dr. Majeed Nizami never bowed before dictatorship and always upheld truthfulness before dictators. He said that Dr. Majeed Nizami has been struggling for strengthening the democracy and democratic values throughout his life. No doubt, Dr. Majeed Nizami was a national asset who left all of us alone and we will always remain grieved over his death. Shahbaz Sharif said that he is deeply grieved over the death of Dr. Majeed Nizami as he was like a kind elderly person for him.
Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif cancelled his engagements due to death of Dr. Majid Nizami, Editor Daily Nawa-e-Waqt and postponed various schedules for today.
