Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that nothing could be crueler to humanity than the act committed to an innocent child Tabassum Shahzad.
He was talking to media at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital Gujrat today. It may be mentioned that 10-year-old Tabassum Shahzad is a student of primary class in Chak Bhola, a nearby village of Gujrat and a local landlord Ghulam Mustafa amputated both his arms after a quarrel with his father. The Chief Minister talked to the child for about an hour and was moved to tears at his condition. He said that he wished he could restore the arms of the child but it was not possible. However, he said, modern artificial arms will be arranged for the child and he will be sent for treatment anywhere in the world. He said that the cruel person who incapacitated the child is a criminal to humanity and deserve maximum punishment.
The Chief Minister also inquired from the aggrieved parents of the child about the details of the incident who showed the photographs of the severed arms of the child and said that a grave injustice had been done to their child as he has been incapacitated and cannot even pursue his studies. The Chief Minister sympathized with the family of the affected child and assured that prompt justice will be provided. He said that the ruthless person who had disabled the innocent child is an enemy of humanity and deserve no leniency. He said that he was deeply grieved at the incident.
The Chief Minister directed district administration and the management of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital to provide all out treatment facilities to the child. He announced that all expenses on the treatment, rehabilitation and education of the child will be borne by the government. He also gave a cheque for Rs.10 lakh as financial assistance to the parents of the child. Meanwhile, the family of a youth who was murdered in Police Station Lari Adda area also appealed to the Chief Minister at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital to provide justice upon which he issued immediate orders in this regard.
