Lahore: Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rashid has said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan has exposed all those who were involved in rigging in the 2013 elections.
Talking to reporters in his Chambers in the Punjab assembly here Thursday he poised three questions for the former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry to answer. 1. On the 28th of March 2013, Chief Election Commissioner Fakharuddin G. Ibrahim issued a letter that no institution should interfere in the affairs of the ECP. Only 5 days after these instruction why did the CJP on April 3rdwrite a letter directly to the District Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers while the services of these officers had been handed over the Election Commission? 2. While the process of filing of nomination papers was in progress, why did the Chief Justice of Pakistan address returning officers in Karachi, 5th April, Hyderabad 6th April, Lahore 7th April, Peshawar 8th April and Quetta 14th April. And why did he undergo emergency visits to all the four provincial capital when the election campaign was in full swing? 3. The former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry was the author of the judicial policy 2009 and on page 11, para 3 reads: “in future the judiciary would avoid its involvement in conduct of elections.” Why did the former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry violate the judicial policy that he had written himself on April 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 14th 2013.
The Opposition leader said that personal ego does not stand anywhere before the right of millions of voters.
He said PTI has taken up this challenge to expose all those who helped in hijacking the mandate of the people of Pakistan.
