People will receive Zakat at Easypaisa shop; Malik Nadeem Kamran

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Zakat & Ushr Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that government has decided to modernize the system of distribution of Zakat among Mustahqeen and under the new system they will be able to receive financial assistance from their nearest Easypaisa shop or such other outlets.

He was presiding over a special meeting regarding prompt and transparent distribution of Zakat among deserving persons, here today. Secretary Zakat & Ushr Habib-ur-Rehman Gillani, Administrator Zakat Muhammad Yousaf Butt and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion. The Minister said that under the former system, deserving persons were paid Zakat through bank accounts and they had to open an account and visit their banks again and again for receiving financial assistance. He said that Local Zakat Committees were issued cheques by District Zakat Committees of Personal Ledger Accounts(PLA) and funds were transferred to the accounts of Local Zakat Committees through a lengthy procedure. He said that the new system will help provide Zakat to the genuine Mustahqeen speedily and in a transparent manner.

Malik Nadeem Kamran said that Zakat & Ushr Department provides financial assistance and medical facilities to the deserving persons at a large scale and financial assistance is provided annually to more than six lakhs destitute persons under various heads. He said that Zakat Department also helped in the vocational training of more than 25 thousand deserving boy and girl students through technical training institutes so that they could earn their livelihood in a honourable manner.
