Opposition leader submits adjournment motionon on Raiwind Operations

Lahore: The Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmood ur Rashid has submitted a adjournment motion with the Punjab Assembly secretariat against the criminal negligence of the Punjab Government and the failure of its security plan of not knowing the terrorists’ hideout for six months in the Model Town area.

He said this security lapse had put the life and property of the general public at  stake and apart from this the security agencies performed their duties honestly than they would not have allowed the terrorists to camp near the Prime Minister’s house for a long period of time. And had they performed their duties with honesty than today we would not have lost the live of a brave Elite Force official.

The Opposition Leader said that the Punjab Chief Minister will have to answer how come he was unaware of the activities of terrorists near his house and why has the Inspector General of Punjab Police been on a ‘mysterious’ leave. He said the absence of the IG of Police plays an important role in the law and order situation of the province and he stands responsible for such incidents.

Mian Mahmoodur Rashid said that a session of the Punjab Assembly should be called without any delay to chalk out a new security plan and review arrangements for foolproof security for the VVIPs of the province. He said suggestions of the members of the Punjab Assembly should be given due consideration and weight.

He said the Model Town incident has seriously dented the moral of the police and will leave a bad impact on their performance in the future. He said the Punjab Government must stop using the police for its political motives and let the police protect the citizen of the province. He said that at the moment over 63 thousand proclaimed offenders are a serious threat to the public and their property. He said it is the failure of the Punjab police that these POs are  oaming scot free and the fact that many of them are in contact with police officials should also be probed.

The Opposition Leader also submitted a Call Attention Notice in the Assembly against the murder of a person of  aghbanpura by dacoits and the increase in number of dacoities and rising crime graph in the province.
