Lahore: Provincial Law Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that the long march of Imran Khan is against constitution and will create chaos and anarchy in the country. He said that Pakistan cannot afford such adventurism. He said that parliament is the proper forum of amendments in the constitution.
Commenting upon the statement of Ch. Shujaat, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that Chaudhry Brothers are supporting Tahir ul Qadri and Imran Khan in their lust of power. He said that in fact they are afraid of development agenda of PML-N. He said that people do not want long march of protest but they only want long march of progress and prosperity. He said that those talking of revolution will soon be ashamed and disappointed. He said that people will reject those who are indulging in negative politics on August 14. He said that rejected elements cannot change the mandate of crores of voters.
Earlier, during a press conference, at Circuit House Multan, the Minister said that present government is in favour of electoral reforms and for this purpose Prime Minister has also constituted a committee of national assembly but a political party wants to bring change through sit-ins on roads which is violation of constitution and law. He said that long march held by Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for restoration of judiciary was aimed at revival of constitution in the real sense. He said that a dictator had put judges under house-arrest after suspending the constitution while the long march of Imran Khan is against constitution.
Replying to a question regarding Model Town tragedy, the Law Minister said that Punjab Chief Minister has taken back ministry from one of his close colleagues who rendered exemplary sacrifices for democracy in the past for making inquiry transparent. He assured that complete inquiry will be conducted into the incident and criminals will be taken to task. The Minister said that government will implement the decision of court regarding Musharraf case. Replying to a question regarding former President Asif Zardari with regard to recounting of votes in four constituencies, the minister said that there is complete freedom of expression in democracy. He said that inquiry of corruption cases in the tenure of former rulers is being conducted and the cases are pending in the court.
