Shahbaz Sharif visits Ramazan bazaars in Kasur

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid surprise visits to Ramazan bazaars in district Kasur today .

The Chief Minister went to the stalls of essential items, fruits, vegetables, flour, sugar and chicken meat and checked the prices and quality of different commodities. He expressed satisfaction over the quality and rates of vegetables and fruits at agriculture fair price shops, however, expressed displeasure over the disparity in the rate of apples at fair price shop and the common stall.

The Chief Minister directed that the rate of fruits should be uniform on the basis of their quality. Shahbaz Sharif also expressed satisfaction over the stability of prices of vegetables in Ramazan bazaars, however, he took notice of poor quality of tomatoes at a stall and directed to improve it.

The Chief Minister also went to the stalls of subsidized flour and expressed indignation over non-availability of stock register of flour bags. He ordered an inquiry into the matter and directed that complete record of supply and sale of subsidized flour should be maintained in future.

During his visit to Railway Station Ramazan bazaar, the Chief Minister took notice of the complaints of harassment of stall holders by an officer of district administration and directed that all out facilities should be provided to the stall holders.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the concerned officer apologized to the stall holders. Shahbaz Sharif also went to the stalls of sugar and inquired from people about the price of sugar who told him that sugar is easily available at the rate of Rs.45 per kg.

The Chief Minister said that sale of chicken meat in Ramazan bazaars at 20 rupees less than market price and of eggs at 12 rupees per dozen less than the market rate be ensured.

Talking to the people on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the purpose of Ramazan bazaars is to provide quality essential items to the citizens at concessionary rate. He said that arrangements in Ramazan bazaars are being further improved. He said that no compromise will be made on the quality of daily use items, fruits and vegetables.

He said that every effort will be made for the provision of relief to the common man in Ramazan bazaars which are meant for general public. He said that elected representatives and administrative officers are monitoring the prices of essential items in Ramazan bazaars while he is personally supervising the entire process.

The Chief Minister freely mingled with the people who were shopping at Ramazan bazaars and inquired from them about the arrangements in Ramazan bazaars. The consumers expressed their satisfaction over the quality and rates of essential commodities, fruits and vegetables and said that Shahbaz Sharif will be rewarded by Allah Almighty for the way he is serving the common man.
