Lahore: Chief Secretary Punjab, Naveed Akram Cheema has said that the aim of Relief package of five billion rupees and Sastay Ramzan Bazaars by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is to provide quality edible items to the people at affordable rates under which fruits, vegetables, pulses, ghee and necessary items are available at 10-20 percent cheaper rate in Ramazan bazaars than open market. He said that the consumers and media representatives should cooperate and provide guidance to Punjab government for the success of its efforts.
He expressed these views while talking to the people and media-men during his surprise visit to Sastay Ramzan Bazaars in Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Shahkot.
The Chief Secretary checked the weight of flour bags at Sastay Ramzan Bazaars at Pir Bahar Shah Chowk and Khadim Hussain Road. He also appreciated the standard of other eatables. He issued instructions for the cleanliness and fogging in Ramazan Bazaars.
DCO Sheikhupura Ali Jan Khan, ADC Syeda Kalsoom Hye and AC Sheikhupura accompanied the Chief Secretary. The Chief Secretary also visited Sastay Ramazan Bazar at Grain market Nankana Saheb. DCO Dr. Osman Ali Khan, ADC Abdul Shakoor and AC Mian Rafiq accompanied the Chief Secretary.
The Chief Secretary also checked the quality, prices and supply of edibles in Ramazan Bazar Shahkot. He also asked the consumers about the quality of edibles and facilities being provided in Ramazan Bazrs.
Talking to media representatives, Chief Secretary said that profiteers and hoarders will be dealt with sternly and provision of daily use commodities at cheaper rate is being ensured in Ramazan bazaars. He said that provincial ministers, elected representatives and officers are paying surprise visits to Rmazn Bazars for providing relief to the people and improvement of these bazaars. He also inspected the stalls of flour set up by food department and checked its quality and weight. He also went to fair price shops and appreciated the arrangements by district administration and directed for further improvement.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Punjab visited Shahbaz Shahbaz Shrif Mother & Children Complex set up at DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura and got first hand information from the parents about medical facilities being provided to the under treatment children in different wards. He also announced to give an air conditioner for the hospital from his own pocket. He said that the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the hospital would soon be met. Chief Secretary lauded setting up of thalassemia center in the hospital and expressed satisfaction over the treatment facilities.
