Lahore: Provincial Minister for Irrigation, Mian Yawar Zaman has said that Punjab is using canal water of its share and not taking even a drop more than its share settled in Water Accord 1991 of Indus River System Authority.
He said that Punjab is taking water of its share through three Canals System including Chashma Jhelum link canal, Taunsa Panjnad link canal and Greater Thal canal and strictly implementing the formula of water distribution among the provinces of IRSA Accord 1991.
Clarifying the position with regard to the allegations leveled by Members National Assembly belonging to PPP Sindh that Punjab province is stealing the water of Sindh Province, the Minister said that the allegations leveled by PPP MNAs are baseless and contrary to the facts.
He said that MNAs leveling allegations are unaware of the facts. He said that Punjab has used 6% less canal water of its share up to May 31, while Sindh province has used 4% more water than its canal water share.
